What is fundraising support?
It's the tab for organisations that help you raise your round rather than invest in it themselves. Fundraising advisers, corporate brokers, accelerators, pitch events, crowdfunding platforms and consultants all sit here.
How is this different from applying to an investor?
An investor decides whether to back you. A fundraising service is someone you're paying to do a job, so the decision is yours, and the fees and terms are in front of you before you commit to anything.
What can they help with?
It depends on the service. Some work on getting your materials and your round ready before you go out. Some put you in front of their own network. Others run events or programmes you can apply to.
Each one sets out what they do on their card, so it's worth a read before you apply.
What can I see about a service?
Open any card and there are three tabs:
Summary: what they do, the sectors they work in, the type and size of their investor network, typical ticket size, and how they make introductions
Fees & Contract: their packages, fees and contract terms in full
Reviews: what other founders have said about working with them
There's more on where ratings come from in Ratings and reviews.
What do they charge?
Fees are on the card before you go any further, and there are three kinds:
Upfront fee, paid at the start
Monthly retainer, ongoing while you're working together
Success fee, a percentage of what you raise
Any of them can be zero, and some services charge nothing at all. The full detail sits in their Fees & Contract tab.
Is there a contract?
Yes. Contract length shows on their card, and you review the full terms before you pay anything.
How do I get started with one?
Apply from their card first. When you're both ready to go ahead, you choose a package, review the terms and pay to begin.
Some services offer a few packages to choose between, others have just the one.
What happens once we're working together?
They move to your Engaged tab, and you can message them from there.
What's a public listing?
A fundraising service that isn't fully on ThatRound yet. We show you what we know about them, and if you'd like to work with them we'll take you over to their own site to do it there.
